Skales’ 2014 hit single ‘Shake Body’ is experiencing a resurgence in popularity, thanks in part to a remix by Dutch DJ Onderkoffer.
The song has garnered almost 200,000 streams on streaming platforms in just 10 hours without playlist support. A notable influencer contributing to its renewed success is FC Barcelona’s 16-year-old football star, Lamine Yamal, whose TikTok videos showcasing his dance moves to the song have gone viral.
Sharing the news on X, Skales wrote “This is crazy!! with the momentum of Shakebody trending again, I decided to officially release this Dj remix I heard in Europe last year and in 10 hours it’s already almost 200k streams with no form of playlist support that’s craaazy … thank you Jesus !!! God indeed works in mysterious ways.”
This isn’t an isolated incident, as TikTok has been known to revive old songs.
For instance, Nigerian musician, Mike Ejeagha, saw a massive surge in his catalog after skitmaker, Brain Jotter’s dance moves popularized his 41-year-old song “Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo” in 2024.
