The Delta State Police Command has issued a stern warning to Point of Sale (POS) operators involved in transactions exceeding ₦500,000, particularly those linked to criminal activities like ransom payments.

In a video shared on his X handle on Thursday, October 17, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, highlighted a case where a POS operator handled a ₦4 million ransom payment for kidnappers, earning a meager profit of ₦40,000.

Despite the minimal financial gain, Edafe emphasized that the operator would face severe legal repercussions. He cautioned POS operators against being used as intermediaries for kidnappers to collect ransom, stating, “Transactions above 500k can get you into trouble. Don’t be a tool for kidnappers to collect ransom. It must be traced to you.”

The officer further advised, “She received ₦4,000,000 ransom from kidnappers and her profit was just ₦40,000. Can you imagine? Be wise. You may argue that you are doing business, but before your lawyer will get you out, you may spend some time cooling off in prison.”
