Ex-Super Eagles coach Christian Chukwu dies at 74

Date:

Former Super Eagles head coach Christian Chukwu has died at the age of 74. He passed away earlier today, though the circumstances surrounding his death have yet to be confirmed at the time of this report.

Chukwu was previously the subject of widespread death rumors in 2021, which he publicly debunked during his 70th birthday celebration on January 4 of that year.

“I was shocked and embarrassed by the false news of my death,” Chukwu had said at the time. “People from around the world were calling me non-stop. I had to begin tracing where the story came from.”

Fondly known as “Chairman,” Chukwu was a towering figure in Nigerian football history — earning respect and admiration both as a player and as a coach. His influence on the sport in Nigeria remains deeply felt.

More information will be shared as it becomes available.
