Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting tourism as a key sector of the state’s economy.
Makinde made this known during the unveiling of the Kunle Afolayan Productions (KAP) film village and resort in Itesiwaju Local Government Area.
The governor also pledged to improve infrastructure around the film village, directing the local government authorities to rehabilitate the Okaka-Igbojaye road to enhance access to the resort.
Makinde said “Tourism remains a cornerstone of our economic strategy. This project is a testament to our vision and our determination to make Oyo State a hub for tourism and cultural heritage.
“What a remarkable feat this is for my brother, Kunle Afolayan, the visionary whose project has brought us all together.
“This particular project speaks directly to the heart of everything we are working towards in this state, particularly our drive for infrastructural development and the expansion of our economy through key growth sectors, including tourism.”
Makinde also announced plans to construct a solar mini-grid and extend a dedicated electricity line from Okaka to the facility, ensuring reliable power supply by December.
Makinde praised Kunle Afolayan for the value his project has brought to the state, despite Afolayan not being an indigene. He emphasized the importance of attracting investments from individuals and organizations that can add value to the state.
“This KAP Film Village is a testament that we are achieving our vision. This project represents a big win for Oyo State. We want everyone who can add value to our state to come and invest here,” Makinde said.
