Plateau killings: Two key suspects arrested by police

Date:

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has strongly condemned the recent spate of killings in Plateau State, describing them as “senseless, deeply disturbing, and a serious threat to national peace and security.”

In a statement from the Force Headquarters on Wednesday, following his visit to the state on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, the IGP expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives.

The statement revealed that two key suspects linked to the killings in Bokkos Local Government Area have been arrested and are cooperating with police investigations.

“The Nigeria Police Force is working tirelessly to uncover the motives behind the attacks, track down other suspects, and bring them to justice,” the statement said.

To reinforce security in the state, the IGP has directed Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) Kwazhi Dali Yakubu, who oversees operations, to assume control of all police activities in Plateau.

Following the directive, DIG Yakubu has launched aerial surveillance over Bokkos and Bassa areas and is currently engaging local leaders to build community trust and cooperation.

After reviewing the security situation, the IGP has also ordered the immediate deployment of more police personnel and resources to Plateau State to boost rapid response and patrols in high-risk areas.
