The Lagos State Police Command has announced the deployment of a robust security presence across the state to ensure a peaceful and crime-free Easter celebration.
In a statement issued on Friday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Commissioner of Police, CP Owohunwa Jimoh, ordered the immediate mobilisation of a wide range of police personnel and tactical units to maintain law and order throughout the festive period.
The deployment includes conventional police officers, the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Police Mobile Force, Counter-Terrorism Unit, Special Protection Unit, K9 teams, Mounted Troops, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit, and other operational teams. These units are stationed at key locations, black spots, and public gathering points across Lagos.
“All strategic areas, including high-risk zones and known flashpoints, are being covered to deter criminal activities, reassure the public, and ensure a smooth and safe Easter celebration,” the statement said.
Security has been intensified around churches, event venues, parks, and other areas expected to attract large crowds. The police also confirmed that armoured vehicles and patrol vans are being used to support the operation.
The command emphasized that the initiative is part of broader efforts to prevent potential threats and ensure public safety before, during, and after the Easter festivities.
CP Jimoh also highlighted collaboration with other security agencies, including the military, paramilitary bodies, and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), to deliver an integrated security response.

He instructed officers to maintain professionalism and uphold the rights of all citizens, urging them to remain polite yet firm in the execution of their duties.
Residents were encouraged to stay alert, cooperate with law enforcement, and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station. Reports of police misconduct can be directed to the Lagos State Command Complaint Response Unit.
CP Jimoh also appealed to parents and guardians to advise their children and wards to avoid unruly behavior during the celebrations.
Wishing Lagosians a joyful Easter, he said, “On behalf of all officers and personnel of the Command, we join Christians across Lagos in celebrating this holy season, and we wish everyone peace, love, and happiness. Happy Easter!”
