Cybergen slams Tinubu’s govt in new song ‘Tell Your Father’

Date:

Elusive Nigerian singer, popularly known as Cybergen on TikTok, has released a new song titled ‘Tell Your Father’, a scathing critique of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The song specifically targets the president’s son, Seyi Tinubu, accusing him of failing to advise his father on the struggles of ordinary Nigerians.

In the song, which was in pidgin English, Cybergen whose real name and identity are unknown, paints a grim picture of Nigeria’s current state, highlighting issues such as skyrocketing food prices, rampant insecurity, and poor road infrastructure.

He dares Seyi Tinubu to experience the reality of these challenges firsthand, particularly the state of roads.

Cybergen’s lyrics urge Seyi Tinubu to inform his father about the hardships faced by citizens, emphasizing that the current situation is unbearable. The song’s message is clear: the government needs to take action to address the country’s problems.

Part of the song is “Tell your papa say we bleed/ Na mago mago dey run this creed/ Tell your father say we dey vex/ Babylon don scatter/ Seyi me ask you clear una/ una papa promise but suffer still dey/Food cost high na wahala menu/ Rice and beans we can’t afford two.”

The release of ‘Tell Your Father’ follows the controversy surrounding Eedris Abdulkareem’s viral hit ‘Tell Your Papa,’ which was banned by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) for being ‘objectionable’.

The ban sparked backlash from civil society groups, well-meaning Nigerians and Nobel laureate, Wole Soyinka, highlighting the ongoing debate about freedom of expression and government censorship in Nigeria
