Presidency refutes claims of Shettima being Barred from Aso villa

Date:

The Presidency has debunked claims that Vice President Kashim Shettima was denied entry into the Presidential Villa, labelling the report as false, malicious, and deliberately designed to stir up tension within the nation’s leadership.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Presidency described the allegation as part of a coordinated campaign of misinformation targeting the Vice President and attempting to portray a rift between him and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“The story that armed military personnel blocked the Vice President from accessing the Villa is completely unfounded and nothing more than a product of fiction,” the statement said.

“At no point was Vice President Shettima ever restricted from entering his office or any area within the Presidential Villa.”

Describing the reports as “fiction dressed up as news,” the Presidency noted that similar false narratives had been peddled earlier in the week, including unsubstantiated claims around campaign posters of President Tinubu.

“These coordinated efforts reflect a desperate ploy to undermine the unity and constitutional commitment shared between the President and the Vice President,” the statement added. “But these efforts are in vain.”

The Presidency reaffirmed that Vice President Shettima remains fully committed to his role and continues to support the President in delivering on the administration’s mandate to Nigerians.

“He is undistracted by such baseless tales and is fully focused on the task of governance,” the statement affirmed.

The Presidency urged Nigerians to disregard the claims and encouraged media outlets to rely on credible sources before publishing sensational reports.

“No amount of misinformation can erode the legitimate and constitutional foundation upon which this administration stands.

“This government, led by President Tinubu, remains unwavering in its service to the Nigerian people,” the statement concluded.
