Sokoto police launch refresher training to boost capacity, discipline

Date:

In a bid to improve discipline, professionalism, and effective service delivery, the Sokoto State Police Command has rolled out an internal refresher training programme for its personnel.

The training initiative, which kicked off on Monday, April 22, 2025, is part of broader reforms inspired by the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, aimed at repositioning the police force for greater efficiency.

Speaking at the opening ceremony held at the Command Auditorium along Gwandu Road, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Musa — represented by the Deputy Commissioner in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department — underscored the significance of the exercise.

He noted that the programme is critical to reinforcing professionalism and ethical conduct among officers.

“The training sessions are structured to cover key aspects of modern policing, including ethics, public civility, and emotional control in challenging situations.

“These focus areas reflect the Inspector-General’s renewed commitment to repositioning the Nigeria Police Force in line with global standards.

“The Command remains fully committed to the continuous development of its personnel to ensure effective and people-centred policing,” the statement read.
