In a significant political development, Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has officially switched allegiance from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defection was finalized during a private meeting held at the Government House in Asaba on Wednesday.
The Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, confirmed the move, stating that it came after careful deliberation and wide-ranging consultations with key political actors within and outside the state, according to Vanguard.

Sources close to the governor revealed that Oborevwori’s decision was motivated by a desire to align with a broader vision for the sustainable development of Delta State.

Oborevwori’s move to the APC is seen by many as a calculated political strategy that could significantly reshape the landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Having secured victory in the 2023 gubernatorial race under the PDP banner, Oborevwori’s shift to the ruling party marks a bold repositioning that has already sparked widespread discussions among political observers and stakeholders.
