In the Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, a teenage girl with a disability (names omitted) is reported to have been impregnated by a pastor named Peter James.
The security forces detained Pastor James, the leader of the Christ Apostolic Church, Modebiayo parish in Oke-Gburowo, Odigbo LGA, on Wednesday.
After he allegedly impregnated the 13-year-old girl, he was taken to the palace of Oba Oloja Moses Ogunmoyewa, the community’s traditional ruler.
According to a someone close to the victim’s family, the priest admitted to being the cause of the pregnancy while being questioned at the Oloja palace..
“The confession was documented by the monarch and other members of his subjects,” he said.
According to the victim’s mother, Mrs. Victoria Bernard, the pastor rejected the pregnancy due to the girl’s birth defect.
She, however, called on government, organisation and members of the public to come to the aides of the family and intervene in the matter to avoid the pastor using his authority to sweep the case under the rug.
According to reports, the pastor’s denial of responsibility for the pregnancy was the first sign of trouble.

Nonetheless, Amotekun Corps agents in Ore have started looking into the matter.
Additionally, it was learned that the church’s zonal headquarters eventually stepped in, but his colleagues’ attempts to convince the pastor to take responsibility for the pregnancy were unsuccessful.
Ayanlade Olayinka, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed the occurrence and stated that the suspect had been invited to be questioned in connection with the case.
While revealing that the police would not sweep the case under the carpet, Mr Olayinka promised that the security agencies would get to the root of the matter and ensure justice is served.
