Police arrest eight over murder of six-year-old boy in Gombe

Date:

Police in Gombe State have arrested eight individuals linked to the abduction and brutal killing of a six-year-old boy, Muhammad Bulama, in Bura-Bunga village, Bajude District of Kwami Local Government Area.

The suspects, including two native doctors, were apprehended for their alleged involvement in what authorities described as a ritual killing. The native doctors, identified as Idris Dayyabu and Abdulrauf Hussaini, reportedly requested human body parts for ritual purposes.

Gombe State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Buhari Abdullahi, disclosed the arrests during a press briefing on Friday. He identified the other suspects as Magaji Adamu (aka Wazam), Babayo Musa, Jibrin Muhammad (Ya’Haji), Usman Khalla, Sadam Umaru, and Isiyaku Muhammad.

Preliminary investigations revealed that young Bulama was abducted from his grandfather’s home at about 5:30 p.m. and later murdered for alleged money rituals.

According to police, Magaji Adamu confessed to receiving the boy from Babayo Musa and slaughtering him in a bush near Wuro-Doya. He reportedly dismembered the body, dumping the upper half into a well.

The lower parts of the child’s body were allegedly handed over to other accomplices, including Jibrin Muhammad and Usman Abubakar, who were arrested in the London Mai Doruwa area of Gombe town. A man identified as Gimba, believed to have assisted in the handover, is still at large.

Police say Sadam Umaru also played a role by directing the suspects to a native doctor who accepted to use human parts for rituals.

All arrested suspects remain in custody as the investigation continues, with efforts underway to apprehend the remaining fugitive.
