Why Rema will never be the same level with Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy – Daniel Regha

Date:

Controversial media personality and social commentator, Daniel Regha, has stirred online debates with a scathing critique of Nigerian music sensation, Rema, following a recent performance in which the young star appeared alongside mannequins of Afrobeats giants Davido, Wizkid, and Burna Boy.

In a post on Saturday on X, Regha expressed disapproval over Rema’s decision to perform his viral track “Hehehe” next to life-sized figures of Nigeria’s globally recognized music icons, interpreting the act as a subtle jab rather than a tribute.

Rema will never be in the same league as Davido, Wizkid, or Burna,” Regha asserted.

“What he did, performing ‘Hehehe’ next to their mannequins isn’t entertainment but an act of subtle disrespect.”He further criticized Rema’s management team for not anticipating the negative optics of the performance.

“His management should have known better, there’s a thin line between admiration and mockery,” Regha warned.

While acknowledging Rema’s rising influence in the global Afrobeats scene, Regha dismissed any notion of the young star joining the ranks of Nigeria’s so-called “Big 3.”

“When it comes to the conversation about the Big 3, or even Top 10, he’s not making such list unless it’s a list of new artistes from his time/era. No offense,” he concluded.

Regha’s remarks have since sparked reactions across social media, with fans and critics divided over whether Rema’s performance was a creative tribute or a perceived slight at his predecessors.
