Bala mourns slain hunters in Bauchi, pledges justice for victims

Bauchi State Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has expressed profound grief following reports that suspected bandits ambushed and killed members of a professional hunters’ patrol in Mansur village, Alkaleri Local Government Area.

The hunters, who were on a routine security operation along the Duguri–Mansur–Dajin Mada forest axis, were reportedly attacked in what the governor described as a “heinous and senseless act of violence.”

In a statement released by his media aide, Mukhtar Gidado, Governor Mohammed condemned the killings, calling them a tragic reminder of the persistent threat posed by criminal elements intent on destabilizing the peace and security of local communities.

“This brutal incident underscores the need for continued vigilance and cooperation in our collective fight against insecurity,” the governor said, offering condolences to the families of the victims, the people of Alkaleri, and the entire state.

He praised the fallen hunters for their courage and sacrifice, praying for the peaceful repose of their souls and promising that their sacrifice would not be in vain.

Reaffirming his administration’s resolve to combat insecurity, Governor Mohammed urged residents to remain united and to support security agencies by reporting suspicious activity and providing actionable intelligence.

He assured the public that efforts are underway, in collaboration with security forces, to track down and bring the perpetrators to justice, emphasizing that the government remains fully committed to maintaining peace and safety across Bauchi State.
