According to counter-terrorism expert Zagazola Makama, the Army chief is presently in Maiduguri with a team of top commanders.

Makama revealed that the COAS has already spent three days on the frontlines and is currently heading a high-level delegation of senior officers tasked with conducting ground assessments and strategic evaluations of Operation Hadin Kai’s operations.

A military source, cited by Makama, also disclosed that the COAS has been engaging directly with troops and field commanders.

“The COAS is fully on the ground. His presence in the theatre is to drive home the urgency of operational recalibration and to ensure our troops are adequately supported in all aspects,” Makama quoted a source as saying.

His visit is also expected to uplift the spirits of personnel deployed in combat zones.
