Bakare emphasized that the government will no longer tolerate exploitative behavior that burdens residents.

She noted that measures are underway to address the issue through legal reforms aimed at safeguarding tenants’ rights.

Stressing that the state’s tenancy legislation is currently undergoing a comprehensive review, she disclosed that new provisions would be introduced to better protect tenants from unfair treatment.

She said, “Government is constantly engaging landlords, property associations, and developers to promote collaboration and also to control excessive housing costs.”

Bakare also highlighted that under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s leadership, the state remains committed to promoting fairness and equity for all citizens.

She further stated that the administration’s efforts are geared towards ensuring that housing in Lagos remains accessible and affordable, and that all stakeholders in the real estate sector are held to account.
