During her resignation speech, she explained that her decision was motivated by a desire to promote “justice, fairness, and equity for all the constituencies.”

She went on to express gratitude to the leadership and the PDP for the opportunity to serve and represent her constituency in the Assembly.

Her resignation was met with commendation from fellow lawmakers, who took turns to acknowledge her steadfast dedication to legislative duties, her passion for public service, and her unwavering integrity throughout her time as Deputy Speaker.

Many colleagues praised her leadership, describing her as a devoted public servant whose efforts made a meaningful difference in the legislative arm during her tenure.

Following her resignation, Mr. Osamwonyi Atu (APC – Orhionmwon East) was unanimously elected by the members of the House to succeed her as Deputy Speaker.

In a show of bipartisan respect, the Majority Leader, Jonathan Aigbokhan (APC – Esan West), proposed that all the entitlements and privileges associated with the office of the Deputy Speaker be duly extended to Oligbi-Edeko.

The motion received immediate support from the Minority Leader, Charity Airobarueghian (PDP – Ovia North East I), and was subsequently endorsed by the entire House.
