The Edo State government has uncovered and sealed off a brothel operating within the premises of a primary school in Esan West Local Government Area.
This revelation was made on Thursday during a press briefing in Benin City by Eugene Okolosie, State Coordinator of the Protection of Government Property (PGP).
He described the discovery as disturbing and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to reclaiming public assets from misuse.

In addition to shutting down the brothel, Okolosie disclosed that the government has recovered over 2,000 plots of land illegally taken by land grabbers.
He also noted that more than 150,000 houses across the state were built on government-owned land, signaling a widespread issue of encroachment.
Okolosie emphasised that the state would intensify efforts to protect public infrastructure and reclaim misappropriated properties.
“The community came to inform us that land grabbers forged their signatures and we moved into action and recovered about 90 per cent of the land back, including lands belonging to schools.
“For example in Ujuele Primary School, they built a brothel inside the school and we have sealed the brothel and some of these property will be converted and we are presently discussing with the governor on the matter,” Okolosie said.
