Ayra Starr makes history with 1 billion YouTube views

Date:

Nigerian singer Ayra Starr has achieved a significant milestone, becoming the first Nigerian female artist to reach 1 billion views on YouTube.

This impressive feat cements her position as one of the most successful Nigerian artists on the platform.

Ayra Starr joins a select group of Nigerian artists who have surpassed 1 billion total views on YouTube, including Burna Boy, Wizkid, Rema, Davido, and Fireboy.

Her Grammy-nominated hit song “Rush” has been a major contributor to her success, with over 450 million views.

“Rush” has become one of the most viewed Afrobeats music videos on YouTube and the biggest by a Nigerian female artist.

The song’s success earned Ayra Starr a UK platinum plaque and made her the first Nigerian female artist to debut a solo track on the UK Official Top 100.

Ayra Starr has had a busy start to 2025, releasing a new single “Gimme Dat” featuring Wizkid, which samples Wyclef Jean’s classic records “Diallo” and “911”.

She also made history by winning 2 MOBO Awards and added to her Headies collection with the prize for Best R&B single for “Last Heartbreak Song” featuring Giveon.
