Dangote Refinery to begin PMS, diesel distribution nationwide

Date:

In a move set to revolutionize the fuel distribution landscape in Nigeria, Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced the commencement of a significant national initiative aimed at enhancing the availability and affordability of fuel across the country.

Effective August 15, 2025, the refinery will begin distributing Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and diesel to a wide range of users, including marketers, petrol dealers, manufacturers, telecommunications firms, and aviation sectors, with the added benefit of free logistics to bolster the distribution network.

“This strategic programme is part of our broader commitment to eliminating logistics costs, enhancing energy efficiency, promoting sustainability, and supporting Nigeria’s economic development,” said a spokesperson for Dangote Refinery. “It affirms our dedication to improving the availability and affordability of fuel, in support of broader efforts to strengthen the economy and improve the well-being of all Nigerians.”

To ensure the smooth rollout of this initiative, Dangote Refinery has invested in the procurement of 4,000 brand-new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered tankers. The refinery is also establishing CNG stations, known as daughter booster stations, supported by a fleet of over 100 CNG tankers nationwide to facilitate seamless product distribution.

Under this initiative, all petrol stations purchasing PMS and diesel from the Dangote Petroleum Refinery will benefit from enhanced logistics support. Key sectors such as manufacturing and telecommunications are expected to see significant advantages, as reduced fuel costs will contribute to lower production expenses, reduced inflation, and foster economic growth.

“Players in these key sectors and others can purchase directly from the Dangote Petroleum Refinery,” the spokesperson added.

Additionally, the refinery will offer a credit facility to customers purchasing a minimum of 500,000 litres, allowing them to obtain an additional 500,000 litres on credit for two weeks, under bank guarantee. This pioneering effort is anticipated to revitalize previously inactive petrol stations, drive job creation, stimulate small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and improve fuel access in rural and underserved communities.

“This initiative is in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, reflecting our shared commitment to economic progress, stability, and inclusive development,” the spokesperson noted.

“We sincerely thank the Federal Government for its continued support, especially through the Naira-for-Crude scheme, which has helped stabilize fuel supply amid global price volatility.”

The registration process for interested marketers, petrol dealers, manufacturers, and telecom companies will take place from June 16 to August 15, spanning a total of 60 days.
