APC trolls vicious, evil – Mr Macaroni

Date:

Popular Nigerian actor and activist, Adebowale Adebayo, widely known as Mr Macaroni, has once again sparked a wave of online discourse following a series of pointed social media statements condemning online trolls affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the growing use of tribal bigotry as a political smokescreen.

In his remarks on X Tuesday, the outspoken entertainer called out members of the APC’s online supporters, accusing them of malicious conduct and deliberate gaslighting.

“Finally, APC Trolls are just as vicious and evil as any other online mob! They have insulted, attacked and cursed me since 2020 up till now!” he wrote. “They are not saints! They are evil and wicked! They are the real headless mob with a unique talent of gaslighting and playing the victim!”

Mr Macaroni, a prominent voice during the #EndSARS movement, expressed disappointment in how some former activists have shifted alliances, betraying the ideals they once championed.

“Boys wey shout and cry during EndSARS have started kissing the asses of the same politicians they criticized,” he said. “They are so ashamed of it they have to use Tribal bigotry to mask their hypocrisy. That’s the only thing I find disgraceful. Boys come dey mumu themselves. Pitiable!”

The comedian also reiterated his belief in political freedom and tolerance, stressing that his criticism has never been about people’s political choices but about those who weaponize ethnicity to justify political loyalty.

“Everyone has a right to support any political party they wish to without being attacked for it,” he noted. “This was my message all through the election period. My issue is with those of you that instigate tribal bigotry because you need an excuse to support a politician! E don Cast!”

He didn’t spare individuals who he believes pretend neutrality while secretly harboring ulterior motives. “Boys don’t know how to come out plainly that they have been paid or that they wish to be paid,” he said. “They start instigating tribal hate so they can use that as a cover. Meanwhile, they are romanticizing with bigots on the TL who insult and curse us daily for criticizing government.”

Mr Macaroni’s impassioned outburst has drawn support from many who see his comments as a bold critique of the toxic political and tribal sentiments increasingly dominating online spaces.

However, critics argue that such generalizations risk further polarizing the discourse.
