The post swiftly went viral, amassing over 1.9 million views, 5,000 reposts, and 41,000 likes within hours—reflecting the strong emotional connection his followers still have with the tragic event.

This marks one of the rare moments Davido has spoken publicly about the painful loss of his first son since the tragic incident in 2022.
Ifeanyi, born to Davido and his wife, Chioma Rowland, passed away on November 1, 2022.
Reports at the time stated that the young child drowned at the family’s residence in Banana Island, Lagos. The incident sent shockwaves across Nigeria’s entertainment industry and devastated many of Davido’s supporters worldwide.
Following the singer’s recent tribute, fans and celebrities alike flooded the comment section with messages of support and prayer.
A verified user, @bigHotbaby1, commented, “May his sweet soul continue to RIP. We love you Ifeanyi Adeleke,” adding a crying emoji and a heart to express the depth of sorrow.
Another fan, @mrsam_akp, posted a brief but heartfelt, “RIP ✨✨.”
A widely circulated post by @SosaOfTogo, also verified, featured a touching black-and-white photograph of Davido holding his son Ifeanyi—an image that stirred strong emotions and quickly spread across the platform.
Earlier this year in May, during an interview with Apple Music’s Ebro Darden, Davido shared a deeply personal moment regarding his newborn son—one of the twins welcomed in October 2023.
He disclosed that the baby bears a striking resemblance to Ifeanyi.
He said, “And the boy looks just like my son (Ifeanyi) that passed. It is scary. It’s like literally him. We’re like, ‘No, it’s him. He came back’ type stuff.”
Davido, who had a private wedding with Chioma in the aftermath of their son’s death, later celebrated a grand public wedding in June 2024, signaling a new chapter in their lives.
Reflecting on how the tragedy reshaped his priorities, the singer explained: “That type of loss made you just be like, ‘I’m out’. I am just going to chill, take care of my wife and take care of the family and get my head right.
He also spoke about the healing journey that followed—the birth of the twins, his highly successful Timeless album, and the strength he drew from his family and faith.“God is real,” Davido affirmed.
