Nigerian rapper, Panshak Zamani, popularly known as Ic e Prince, has opened up about his struggles with addiction to cannabis.
He made this revelation in an interview on the Konnected podcast, where he said he regrets ever learning how to roll cannabis, attributing his addiction to this skill.
Ice Prince revealed that his exposure to cannabis began at a young age, watching his late grandfather smoke. This normalization of the habit likely contributed to his own struggles with addiction.
The rapper confessed to hurting people he cares about, stating, “I have broken a few hearts, and I have regrets.”
He said “One of the worst things I wish I could unlearn is how to roll cannabis. I wish I had never learnt that, because if I had not learnt that, I probably would not have smoked.
“But because I know how to roll, you wake up in the studio, and you start rolling. I do not allow anybody to roll for me. I roll by myself. I do not roll with drugs or any other stuff.”
While acknowledging that smoking does not enhance his creativity but affects his mood, Ice Prince highlighted the financial and health risks of smoking, warning others to be cautious.
“Smoking does not help with the craft. But for me, it helps with my mood and not my craft. Even though so many things could help with my mood, it just happened to be there. I am not going to sit here and lie that I do not puff. I do.
“Again, I would advise that it is not for everybody. Healthwise, mentally, it is not for everybody. Not everybody reacts to it the same way. Know yourself and be honest with yourself. Do not do things to please people.
“Some of my young guys come to the studio and smoke. I do not stop them. I allow them to do their thing. But I do not give it to them. It is a very expensive venture. You do not want to get started with something you cannot sustain.”
