Peller threatens to sue cleric over claims of distracting youths, causing UTME failures

Date:

TikToker, Habeeb Hamzat, better known as Peller, has threatened to sue Kesiena Esiri, the lead evangelist of The Remnant Christian Network (RCN) in Warri, Delta State, over controversial comments made against him.

In a viral clip, Kesiena accused Peller of promoting immorality among teenagers and negatively influencing their academic performance.

Esiri claimed that Peller’s content on TikTok contributed to the failures of many candidates in the recent Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

He stated “You know the young person mentoring people now? It is one guy that calls himself Peller. Young people now stay on their phones from morning till night, listening to him.

“He is going about with a girl he is not married to and they are engaging in all kinds of nonsense. And to my generation teens, it is normal behaviour. How can they pass JAMB, they cannot pass JAMB.”

Dismissing the cleric’s claims on a live TikTok session, Peller argued that he is not responsible for students’ academic failures. He emphasized that no one is forced to watch his content and vowed to sue Kesiena for using his name to collect offerings in church.

Peller said “One pastor went to church and was preaching about Peller and Jarvis. What is this generation turning to. He said it is because of Peller and Jarvis that his children failed JAMB.

“Let me tell you something, nobody forced anyone to watch Peller and Jarvis. You see that pastor, we will sue you. Mr. prophet we will sue you. Because you are using our names to collect offering in your church.

“You know how he is going to make money from the offering? That day, all the Gen Zs will love the pastor and they will contribute more offering than what the church has ever collected before. They would be delighted that their pastor is Peller’s favourite. He wants to build a channel in a worship place.”

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) released the original 2025 UTME results on May 9, showing that over 78% of candidates scored less than 200 points out of 400. Following public outcry, JAMB reviewed the results, uncovered a technical error, and conducted a resit exam.
