Controversial crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has been re-arrested by operatives of the anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Bobrisky was detained by immigration officials at Murtala Muhammed International Airport while trying to board a KLM flight to London via Amsterdam.
According to a senior official of the anti-graft agency, the arrest occurred late Thursday night due to his failure to respond to several EFCC summons regarding allegations he made against the agency.
The EFCC insider revealed that Bobrisky’s accusations involve claims of bribery and corruption, specifically alleging that he paid N15 million to EFCC officials in an attempt to quash money laundering charges against him.
The EFCC has firmly denied these claims and indicated that Bobrisky could face new charges for allegedly providing false information.
“We apprehended him in Lagos and will be transferring him to Abuja,” the source stated.
“He has made serious allegations against us, yet he has consistently ignored our requests for him to back them up. Such matters can’t be overlooked.
“Additionally, he has failed to appear before the National Assembly regarding these accusations, leaving us no choice but to take him into custody to compel him to provide evidence.”
Dele Oyewale, the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, confirmed the arrest but did not offer further details.
In a recent Instagram post, Bobrisky claimed that EFCC officials arrested him, asserting that he sustained injuries during a confrontation with them.
The EFCC previously cautioned that if Bobrisky’s allegations turned out to be false, he could face charges for giving false information.
