Canadian rapper, Tory Lanez, was stabbed 14 times by a fellow inmate at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi. The 32-year-old artist is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot in 2022.
According to a statement posted on Lanez’s Instagram page, the rapper sustained severe injuries, including: seven stab wounds to his back, four stab wounds to his torso, two stab wounds to the back of his head, and one stab wound to the left side of his face.
The attack caused both of Lanez’s lungs to collapse, requiring immediate medical attention. He was placed on a breathing apparatus but has since stabilized and is breathing on his own.
Despite being in pain, Lanez is reportedly talking normally and is grateful for everyone’s prayers and support.
His team shared an update on his health, stating that he’s “deeply thankful to God that he is pulling through”.
The incident occurred on Monday morning in a prison housing unit. An investigation is currently underway into the stabbing, with California’s Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation confirming that prison staff began first aid before Lanez was taken to a local medical facility for further treatment.
