Niger state: No tolerance for rascality, Gov Bago orders arrest of people with dreadlocks

Date:

Governor Umar Bago of Niger State has directed security agencies to arrest individuals wearing dreadlocks in Minna, the state capital.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ security meeting held at the Government House on Tuesday, the governor said the hair of such persons should be cut and fines imposed on them.

“We will have zero tolerance for rascality. Anybody that you find with dreadlocks, arrest, barb the hair, and fine him.

“Nobody should carry any kind of haircut inside Minna. I have given marching orders to security agencies,” he said.

The meeting was attended by security agencies and traditional rulers.

He urged parents to caution their children, saying the government would begin implementing stricter security measures.

“Parents warn children, warn your wards. From this moment, it’s 100 per cent fire for fire. Any attempt to harass any security officer is an attempt to harass the government of Niger State,” Mr Bago declared.

The governor added, “Any house harbouring criminals should be demolished. No room for useless people in Niger State. NDLEA and other agencies should arrest drug dealers in the state. Here is a marching order.”

Mr Bago’s directive came amid tragic killings in several parts of the country, especially in Benue State.
