Tensions escalated in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Monday morning as police fired tear gas at protesters from the Take-It-Back movement.
The demonstrators, supported by Civil Society Organizations and the Niger Delta Congress, had gathered at Isaac Boro Park to rally against key national issues.
The protestors were initially met with verbal warnings from police officers, who instructed them to leave the area. When the protesters refused to disperse, the situation quickly escalated, with law enforcement deploying tear gas canisters in an attempt to break up the demonstration.

Despite the police’s efforts, the protesters persisted, responding with chants and solidarity songs. They began marching within the park before moving toward the bustling Aba Express Road.
At the CFC junction, police once again intervened, demanding the protesters vacate the street. However, the crowd remained defiant, forcing the police to fire additional rounds of tear gas to scatter the group and regain control of the situation.
The standoff marks the latest chapter in the nationwide protests, with tensions rising as demonstrators continue their calls for political and social change across the country.
