President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced a significant leadership change at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), appointing a new management team to lead the state broadcaster.
Veteran media executive Rotimi Richard Pedro has been named the new Director-General.

Pedro, a media entrepreneur and consultant from Lagos, brings nearly three decades of experience in broadcasting, sports rights, and marketing across Africa, the UK, and the Middle East. He is an entertainment and intellectual property lawyer with an MSc in Investment Management & Finance from City University Business School, London.
In 1995, Pedro founded Optima Sports Management International (OSMI), which became a leading sports content provider in Africa. The company distributed major events like the English Premier League, UEFA Champions League, and FIFA World Cup to over 40 countries.
His career also includes leadership roles at Bloomberg Television Africa and Rapid Blue Format, along with consultancy work for organizations like FIFA, UEFA, and the African Union of Broadcasters (AUB). He is widely credited by industry analysts for his success in building commercially viable broadcast platforms and delivering world-class content to African audiences.
Pedro’s appointment is seen as a clear signal of the government’s intent to modernize and reposition the NTA in a competitive media landscape.
