Why I visited IBB, Abdulsalami Abubakar – Oluremi Tinubu

Date:

Oluremi, President Bola Tinubu’s wife, has revealed the purpose for her visit to former military leaders of state Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB) and Abdulsalami Abubakar at their hilltop homes in Minna, Niger State.

Mrs Tinubu stated that her visit was to thank IBB and Abubakar for their support of Tinubu’s administration.

She also recognized Babangida and Abubakar as wonderful leaders who inspired the President.

Mrs Tinubu and the wife of Vice President Kashim Shettima, Nana, flew into Minna on Tuesday and were received at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport by Governor Muhammed Umar Bago, his wife, and other top government officials.

They then proceeded to hold meetings with the former heads of state at their respective residences.

Speaking after the meeting, Abdulsalami Abubakar described Mrs Tinubu as Nigeria’s number one ambassador.

“She has done very well during her first and second years. She has done a lot to bring Nigeria to greatness,” he said.

In response, Mrs Tinubu commended the former leaders, referring to them as ‘fathers of the nation.’

She said: “It is only right for me to come here to greet them because they are fathers of the nation.

“Nigerian leaders have been very supportive of President Bola Tinubu’s government, and they have always encouraged Mr President.”
