Wike revokes PDP national secretariat land

Date:

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has issued a notice revoking the right of occupancy granted to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for a plot of land in Abuja, where the party is constructing its new national secretariat.

The revocation, signed by the Director of Land Administration, FCTA, Chijioke Nwankwoeze, was addressed to the PDP National Chairman.

It cites the party’s failure to pay annual ground rents for two decades from January 1, 2006, to January 1, 2025, as the primary reason for the decision.

The letter sighted by Newsmen on Tuesday, dated 13th March 2025, states that despite repeated public notices by the FCTA since 2023, PDP neglected to settle outstanding payments. The revocation is in line with Section 28 (5a and b) of the Land Use Act, which grants the government the authority to reclaim lands when allottees violate the terms of occupancy.

“The subject property (Plot No. 243, Central Area, Cadastral Zone A00, Abuja) has thus reverted to the Federal Capital Territory Administration, and the Administration will take immediate possession thereof,” the letter reads.

The PDP is yet to officially respond to the revocation notice. However, political analysts suggest the decision may have broader implications given Wike’s history with the party and his role in the current administration.
