19-Year-Old Arrested for Murdering 3-Day-Old Baby in Adamawa

Date:

19-year-old Aliyu Yaro has been apprehended by operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command for the tragic killing of his 3-day-old baby boy.

The suspect, from Kwacham Ward in Mubi North Local Government Area, is accused of murdering the infant just three days after the child’s birth.

Yaro’s girlfriend, Safiya, reported the crime, accusing him of the brutal act. During questioning, Yaro confessed to the crime and led police to the location where he had buried the baby’s body. The remains were exhumed for further investigation.

In his statement, Yaro explained that he had impregnated Safiya, the mother of the deceased child, and had been called by her to come for the baby after delivery.

He admitted that on the night of the incident, he visited Safiya’s house, where he convinced her to leave the house on an errand to fetch water.

Taking advantage of her absence, Yaro took the newborn, and later that evening, around 9 p.m., he buried the infant’s body in the Girpata area of Mubi.

The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, CP Morris Dankombo, expressed deep concern over the disturbing incident. He has ordered that the case be transferred to the state’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for a thorough investigation and subsequent legal action.

The police are committed to ensuring that justice is served in this tragic case.
