A suspected notorious kidnap kingpin, Ngbede Ekoja Echono—popularly known as Ocheanpla—has reportedly vowed to expose several accomplices following his arrest by security forces in the Apa Local Government Area of Benue State.
Echono, believed to be behind multiple abductions and violent attacks in the Odugbo, Opaha, and Obinda areas, issued the threat in a video circulating online.

He warned security agents not to mistreat him, insisting he did not act alone.
“If you take me beyond here, I will expose many. I am not the only kidnapper in the Obinda, Opaha, Odugbo axis,” he said in the footage.
Local sources allege that Echono had previously led armed kidnappers into the community and once stole and sold weapons belonging to the Obinda people without facing repercussions.
“He even took Obinda’s weapon and sold it, yet no one said anything,” a resident disclosed.
Security officials confirmed that investigations are ongoing, and more arrests may follow based on information provided by the suspect.
