Imo police ban unmarked vehicles for tactical operations

Date:

In response to a surge of public complaints regarding harassment, intimidation, and extortion, the Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, has issued a strict directive prohibiting all tactical teams from using unmarked vehicles, including mini-buses and tricycles (Keke), for patrol operations across the state.

The new directive, announced in a press statement by Command Spokesperson DSP Henry Okoye, aims to curb unprofessional conduct by some tactical officers.

CP Danjuma described the use of unapproved vehicles for patrols as “grossly unprofessional” and warned of immediate sanctions for any team found in violation.

Commanders of such teams will be held vicariously liable.

The Imo State Police Command reiterated its commitment to upholding professionalism, accountability, and ethical policing standards, aligning with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police.

All units have been instructed to comply strictly with the new order, and the public is encouraged to report any violations.
