The Kano State Police Command has formally charged fourteen individuals with culpable homicide and other related crimes over the brutal murder of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Rano Division, CSP Baba Ali, which occurred two weeks ago.
According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the suspects face multiple charges including criminal conspiracy, inciting public disturbance, arson, criminal trespass, causing grievous bodily harm, and theft.

The suspects identified are Bala Yusuf, Bala Mohammed, Abdulrashid Ibrahim, Abdullahi Salisu Kere, Sadiq Buhari, Yunusa Adamu, Musa Minkaila, Mamuda Mohammed, Ismail Mamuda, Usman Shu’aibu, Musa Hassan Black, Abdulrashid Munkail, Umar Ado Nadada, and Sabitu Abubakar— all residents of Rano Local Government Area.
Kiyawa revealed that a total of 29 individuals have now been arraigned before Magistrate Court No. 20 in Nomansland, Kano, following a comprehensive investigation into the attack that led to CSP Baba Ali’s death and destruction of property.
In addition to the 14 suspects charged with homicide, another 15 have been arraigned for related offences including criminal conspiracy, incitement, and mischief.
The Police Command has called on residents of Kano to remain law-abiding and allow the legal process to take its course, warning against any form of retaliation or unlawful action in response to the tragedy.
