Kano State’s Commissioner of Transportation, Hon. Ibrahim Namadi, is taking a page from Lagos State’s transportation playbook as he led a delegation to learn from Lagos’ advancements in transportation infrastructure and network.
The team visited key facilities like the Ikeja Bus Terminal, Red Line Ikeja Station, and Blue Line, and met with Engr. Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo, Managing Director, Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA).
Impressed by Lagos State’s transportation achievements, Namadi said he wants to replicate similar successes in Kano.
He’s particularly interested in implementing a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system and has pledged to collaborate with the Lagos State government and LAMATA to make it happen.
This visit marks Kano’s commitment to upgrading its transportation sector and learning from Lagos State’s experience. Who knows, maybe one day Kano will have a transportation system that rivals Lagos.
Members of the Kano State team are Hon. Aliyu Isa (Permanent Secretary), Bashir Ado Gaya (Director of Admin and General Services, Ministry of Transportation), Dr. Nura Ibrahim Hassan (Technical Advisor, Transport Policy and Planning), and Najeeb Mahmoud Abdussalam (Transport Specialist Consultant).
