LASEPA shuts establishments over noise pollution in Alimosho

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has intensified its enforcement efforts by shutting down several establishments across the Alimosho area over repeated noise pollution and violations of environmental regulations.

The operation covered key locations including Egbeda, Igando, Gowon Estate, and Shasha, targeting various facilities such as hotels, religious centres, lounges, and a bakery—all cited for failing to comply with environmental standards.

Among the affected establishments were; Hellious Lounge Bar, Hope of Glory International Redemption Church, Okla Royal Hotel & Masara Entertainment, Olorunisola Hotel, Aloma Hotel & Suites, Let’s Go There Hotel & Lounge, A Bakery, Demeg Hotel, De Emmy Hotel & Suites, Goodtime Palace, and Alhaja Fausatu Bankole Mosque.

This was made known via a statement on LASEPA’s X handle on Thursday, May 08.

The statement reads: “On Tuesday, May 6th, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) stepped up its crackdown on environmental offences, sealing multiple establishments in the Alimosho area of the State for persistent noise pollution and other environmental violations.

“The enforcement operation covered several places in Alimosho axis—including Egbeda, Igando, Gowon Estate, and Shasha—targeting a range of businesses and institutions. Affected facilities included religious centers, hotels, lounges, and a bakery.

“Some of the closed establishments include: Hellious Lounge Bar, Hope of Glory International Redemption Church, Okla Royal Hotel & Masara Entertainment, Olorunisola Hotel, Aloma Hotel & Suites, Let’s Go There Hotel & Lounge, A Bakery, Demeg Hotel, De Emmy Hotel & Suites, Goodtime Palace, and Alhaja Fausatu Bankole Mosque.

“The General Manager LASEPA, Dr Babatunde Ajayi reaffirmed the agency’s zero-tolerance approach to environmental violations.

“ ‘Noise pollution and related offences harm public health and disrupt community peace. Our actions today reinforced our commitment to safeguarding the environment and promoting a healthier Lagos that we can all be proud of’, he said.

“He urged all establishments to comply with environmental regulations, warning that his agency would not hesitate to shut down any organization or businesses violating the State Environmental Protection law 2017 as amended.”
