In Kachia Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State, a rival party planned an ambush that resulted in the death of a notorious bandit commander who was known by the alias “Shekau” due to his notoriety.
Zagazola Makama was informed by intelligence sources that bandit leader Shumo, a native of Ragadada, Buruku in Birnin Gwari LGA, was responsible for the deadly attack.
The assault was reportedly a retaliation for a previous encounter where Shekau had seized Shumo’s weapons and killed several of his fighters.

The ambush, which took place on March 5, 2025, resulted in the death of Shekau and several of his lieutenants.
It was confirmed that the bodies of the slain bandits were later buried by individuals identified as Yellow Million, Baba Kusa, and an imam from Kabode village in Kachia LGA.
Despite significant progress in curbing banditry in Kaduna State through non-kinetic strategies implemented by the state government and security forces, internal rivalries among competing bandit factions continue to escalate, resulting in increasing casualties.
