Police apprehends prison official over defilement of minor in Delta

Date:

Apiakise Samson, a current Assistant Inspector of Prisons, has been placed under arrest in connection with the alleged defilement of a 15-year-old girl in Warri, Delta State.

Officers from the Nigeria Police Force’s “B” Division, which is part of the Warri Area Command, took the accused into custody.

The girl was allegedly violated on January 21 at Obahor Street in Warri, Warri South Local Government Area of the state, by the culprit, who has been cooling off at the police station.

The arrest follows reports that Divisional Police Officer DPO “B,” CSP Christopher Odoh, turned down a N5 million bribe to cover up the incident.

It was learned that the suspect had attacked the young girl on January 21 at approximately 11:00 p.m., dragged her into the correctional center, overpowered her, and forcibly defiled her.

The suspect then released the girl the next morning at approximately 5:00 a.m. It was also learned that the girl, a JSS III student at Ugbuwangue College, Warri, had reported the incident to her mother, who had been looking for her since the previous evening.

The culprit was immediately taken into custody after the girl’s mother, infuriated by the occurrence, went to the Police Station “B” Division in Warri to report the incident.

Dr. A. Akpofure of the Central Hospital in Warri then performed a medical examination on her, and the results showed blood stains and penetration.

SP Bright Edafe, the public relations officer for the Delta State Police, stated that the report had not yet reached him at the time of filing.
