Police uncover suspected ritual site linked to prophet in Enugu

Date:

The Enugu State Police Command has uncovered a suspected ritual site believed to be connected to Prophet Chinedu Ezedike, the cleric at the centre of the investigation into the gruesome murder of four siblings in Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area.

The disturbing discovery was made during a coordinated security operation on Saturday, May 7, 2025, led by the Divisional Police Officer of Igbo-Eze South and supported by operatives from other security agencies.

The joint team raided an uncompleted church structure, reportedly named The Synagogue, located at Abile Hill, Isi-Agu, Ibagwa-Aka.

At the site, officers recovered a human skull and a ritual staff—items believed to be connected to ritual practices.

The building, owned by Prophet Ezedike, is among several of his properties now under scrutiny following public outrage over the killing of four children in the area.

The state government had earlier demolished the primary location linked to the alleged crime.

Confirming the new discovery, Chairman of Igbo-Eze South LGA, Barr. Ferdinand Ukwueze, said in a Facebook post on Monday that the security team had been combing locations suspected to serve as hideouts for criminal activity.

“To our dismay, a human skull and ritual staff were discovered at the so-called synagogue under construction by Prophet Chinedu Ezedike,” Ukwueze wrote, noting that the evidence has been handed over to police for further investigation.

He described the finding as further proof of the “deeply troubling allegations” surrounding the controversial prophet.

Ukwueze commended the collaborative efforts of the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), military personnel, local Neighbourhood Watch, Forest Guards, and community members for their dedication to restoring safety.

“Under Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s leadership, there will be no safe haven for criminal elements. Our communities must be places where people can live and dream without fear,” he added.
