The North East Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), has reported the elimination of 17 Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists during recent clearance operations in Borno and Adamawa states.
According to a statement from Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Captain Reuben Kovangiya, the terrorists had been active in several local government areas, including Bama, Konduga, Gwoza, Magumeri, and Biu in Borno State, as well as Michika in Adamawa State.
Kovangiya also stated that troops successfully discovered and detonated more than 14 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) that had been planted by the terrorists in various locations.
“In a continued effort to deny Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists the freedom to operate, troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), supported by close air support from the Air Component OPHK and the Civilian Joint Task Force, sustained a series of offensive operations across the North East theatre from July 23 to August 2, 2025.
“These operations, which included fighting patrols, ambushes, clearance missions, and logistics denial campaigns, extended across Michika LGA in Adamawa and the Borno LGAs of Bama, Konduga, Gwoza, Magumeri, and Biu.

“This resulted in the neutralisation of several terrorists, the recovery of assorted arms and ammunition, the discovery and safe detonation of IEDs, and the seizure of large quantities of terrorist logistics items,” he said.
He noted that in separate operations around Bula Daburu, Alau Dam, Bitta, Kawuri, Algambari, Ajiri, and Bulabulin, troops killed over 17 Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters and recovered several AK-47 rifles, a PKT gun, multiple AK-47 magazines, and a cache of 7.62mm ammunition.
“Other logistics items recovered from the terrorists included approximately 2,300 litres of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), over 1,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), two generators, a tricycle, bags of rice, solar panels, and several motorcycles, among other sundry items,” he said.
He stated that the improvised explosive devices (IEDs), which were planted to target civilians and military personnel, were successfully neutralised by troops during the operation.
Kovangiya also disclosed that, within the same period, troops facilitated the safe return of over 987 internally displaced persons (IDPs) to their ancestral communities in Mandaragrau, Biu Local Government Area.
Additionally, he noted that troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), in collaboration with Nigerien forces, conducted joint operations along the Diffa-Duji-Damasak corridor, significantly boosting security and promoting socio-economic stability in the region.
“The sustained offensive operations, in line with directives from the military high command, underscore OPHK’s unwavering commitment to restoring peace in the North East and fostering a conducive environment for socio-economic development,” Kovangiya said.
