Two Pakistani Nationals arrested for kidnapping in Lagos

Date:

Lagos State Police have apprehended two Pakistani nationals, Roman Gull, 19, and Aftab Ahmad, 28, for allegedly orchestrating a kidnapping ring that targeted a 48-year-old Pakistani man in Ikeja.

According to Benjamin Hundeyin, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, the suspects, along with five accomplices, lured the victim from Kano State with a fraudulent job offer for a chef position.

Upon his arrival in Lagos, they abducted him and demanded a ₦50 million ransom from his employer.

The Lagos State Police swiftly responded to a distress call on March 5, 2025, from the Ikeja Division.

Officers from the division, acting on the tip-off, successfully rescued the victim and arrested the two Pakistani nationals. However, five other members of the gang managed to flee the scene.

Hundeyin revealed that the suspects had flown the victim to Lagos on February 28, 2025, and placed him in a hotel. The next day, they overpowered and restrained him before contacting his employer with the ransom demand, threatening to kill him if the money was not paid.

As part of their tactics, the victim’s employer paid ₦1 million as a show of compliance but later alerted the police, prompting their intervention.

During the operation, officers seized a grey Toyota Camry, $2,000 in cash belonging to the victim, along with various personal documents such as ATM cards, a driver’s license, and a National Identity Number slip.

While the arrested suspects are in custody, the police are still on the lookout for the remaining members of the kidnapping syndicate. Once the investigation concludes, all suspects will face prosecution.

The victim, who was found in good condition, has been reunited with his family.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, praised the officers for their quick action and assured the public that the command remains committed to maintaining security throughout the state.
