UK PM, Starmer, promises crackdown on illegal workers

Date:

The UK Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, has vowed to crack down on illegal foreign workers, promising tougher measures to address the growing issue.

Since taking office last July, Starmer has initiated reforms to the UK’s immigration policies, with analysts describing his approach as “firm but fair”.

Starmer’s tweet on Monday emphasized his commitment to ending illegal work in the UK.

The Home Office has also launched a fresh wave of immigration raids, boasting a record number of deportations.
Illegal working visits and arrests have increased by 38% since Labour took power.

The government plans to broadcast footage of deportations, and Starmer has criticized the previous administration for driving up immigration numbers.
He aims to reduce immigration and prioritize British workers.

Some of the key measures being implemented include:

  • – Increased salary thresholds: The general salary threshold for Skilled Worker visas has increased by 48% to £38,700.
  • – Tougher penalties for rogue employers: Employers who flout visa rules or commit employment breaches will face bans from hiring overseas workers.
  • – Improved protection for vulnerable workers: The government is taking action to prevent exploitation, particularly in the care sector.

These measures aim to tackle illegal migration, protect British workers, and ensure fairness in the immigration system.
