Billboard has unveiled its list of the 25 greatest female rappers of all time, celebrating the most iconic women in hip-hop. Nicki Minaj tops the list, cementing her status as the most commercially successful female rapper in history.
According to Billboard, Minaj’s impressive resume, including over 149 entries on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, solidifies her position as the queen of female rap.
“She’s the first female rapper to eclipse triple-digit Billboard Hot 100 hits in 2018 with 149 entries to her name as of publishing” Billboard highlights.
Other notable artists on the list include Missy Elliott, Lauryn Hill, Lil Kim, and Queen Latifah, who round out the top five.
Cardi B, known for her iconic album ‘Invasion of Privacy’, takes the 11th spot, while Megan Thee Stallion and Doja Cat also make the list.
Grammy winner Doechii, who broke into the mainstream barely a year ago, impressively lands the 24th spot.
Pioneers like MC Lyte, Roxanne Shante, and Salt-N-Pepa are also recognized for their groundbreaking contributions to hip-hop.
The list showcases the impact, longevity, and lyrical prowess of these female rappers, highlighting their significant contributions to the genre.
