According to reports, the boy’s elder brother, Okonkwo Onyenbuchi, was the one to notify the police of the incident.
A source, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that a self-proclaimed native doctor named Amechi Edozunor, along with an accomplice, Kelvin Ugru, allegedly performed a ritual on the victim, claiming it would make him “invulnerable to bottles.”
During the ritual, the suspects reportedly struck the boy’s head with a bottle in an attempt to demonstrate the effectiveness of the charm.
Unfortunately, the blow caused a severe head injury, and the boy was rushed to a nearby hospital. Despite efforts to save him, Okonkwo Obinna Emmanuel succumbed to his injuries on April 5, 2025.
The remains of the deceased have been sent to the hospital mortuary for an autopsy.
Meanwhile, the police have arrested the two suspects—Amechi Edozunor and Kelvin Ugru—who are currently in custody for further investigation.
Authorities are continuing their inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death.
