2027: South East elders endorse Tinubu for second term, cite regional gains

Date:

A prominent political support group, the South East Elders Alliance for Tinubu 2027, Enugu North Senatorial District chapter, has thrown its weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid, citing strategic federal appointments and regional development under his leadership.

The endorsement was officially declared during the group’s inauguration ceremony on Wednesday in Nsukka, Enugu State, where respected elders and political stakeholders gathered to affirm their commitment to Tinubu’s second-term ambition.

In a strongly worded communique signed by Hon. Humphrey Nwosu (National Coordinator, South East), Prof. Damian Opata (Deputy National Coordinator), Prof. Chuka Ezema (Strategy Coordinator, Enugu North), and Dr. Anthony Alumona (Administration Coordinator, Enugu North), the alliance lauded President Tinubu for what they described as “unprecedented inclusion of South East sons and daughters in key national positions.”

Among the high-profile appointments highlighted were: Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla – Chief of Naval Staff, Frank Mba – Deputy Inspector General of Police, Prof. Melvin Ayogu – Member, CBN Board of Directors, Prof. Iliyasu Usman – First Igbo Imam of Abuja Central Mosque, Dr. Amaka Onu– Board Member, Federal Polytechnic, Jigawa, Hon. Favour Nkem Asogwa– Board Member, Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Chief Eva Asadu – Member, Anambra-Imo River Basin Authority, Maj. Gen. E.I. Okoro – Military Secretary, Nigerian Army.

“The people of Enugu North have never had it this good under any previous federal administration,” the communique declared, emphasizing that the appointments not only uplift the Nsukka Igbo community but also reinforce a broader sense of inclusion across the South East.

In addition to endorsing Tinubu’s 2027 run, the group called on the President to sponsor an Executive Bill to the National Assembly aimed at amending the constitution to create new states — a move they believe would *“cement his legacy and promote national balance.”

The alliance also urged the federal government to intensify efforts toward economic recovery, calling for urgent interventions to stabilize the naira, curb inflation, reduce fuel and food prices, and enhance national security.

They proposed the establishment of a digital response unit within the security architecture to address emerging threats with speed and precision.

Reaffirming their loyalty to the national body, the Enugu North chapter stressed their unwavering support for Tinubu’s administration and called on Nigerians across all regions to back his re-election bid as a means of completing the South’s rightful eight-year mandate.

“Mr. President, may the Almighty continue to guide your administration in wisdom and strength,” the communique concluded.
