Abians want good governance, not drama over gov’s office – Otti’s spokesman

Date:

Chief Press Secretary to Governor Alex Otti, Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, has stated that the people of Abia State are more concerned with effective governance than the physical location from which the governor operates.

Speaking during a live broadcast of Open Parliament on Family Love FM in Umuahia, Ukoha dismissed ongoing speculations surrounding the new Government House, including bizarre claims that live animals such as cows, vultures, and tortoises were allegedly buried within its premises before Governor Otti assumed office.

He also referenced widespread rumours suggesting that incantations were performed to spiritually harm the governor.

However, Ukoha clarified that the current administration does not place any stock in such stories, viewing them strictly as unverified hearsay.

Despite this, he raised concerns over the growing pressure from opposition figures urging the governor to relocate to the new Government House, describing the intensity of such demands as “suspicious.”

“I hope it is not what I am thinking. Why is this coming from the same people? Move to the Government House, move to the Government House.

“Before now, there were rumours that cows, vultures and tortoises were buried inside the government house and other incantations with the intention of eliminating the Governor when he was newly elected. That is the rumour that we heard.

“Obviously it was a rumour but I am beginning to think up the whole thing about why this pressure to go to the government house,” he wondered.

The CPS informed listeners that massive reconstruction is ongoing at the old Government House being executed by the present administration, including the SSG’s office and Government House clinic.

He further praised the Governor for completing the important Port Harcourt Road which had been in ruins for many years, adding that most other roads in Aba which were in terrible conditions had now been fixed by Governor Alex Otti.
