Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), addressed a viral AI-generated image of him circulating on social media during the first Holy Ghost Night service of the year, held in the early hours of Saturday, January 4.
The image, which depicted Adeboye dressed in Islamic attire and as a Muslim in the Holy land of Mecca, sparked widespread conversation online in late December 2023.
In a light-hearted yet reflective moment, Adeboye acknowledged the image, saying with a smile, “I’m sure many of you saw that picture showing me as an alhaji.”
The AI-generated image portrayed the pastor in a manner that suggested he had completed the Hajj pilgrimage, with individuals who perform this ritual referred to as “Alhaji” (for men) or “Alhaja” (for women).
Despite the apparent misrepresentation, Adeboye took the opportunity to remind the congregation of the growing presence of mockers in the world today, predicting that many would not survive the year.
However, he emphasised that God does not take pleasure in the death of sinners.
Shifting focus to global matters, Adeboye urged the congregation to pray for peace, particularly in light of ongoing international conflicts.
He warned that, without divine intervention, the world could be on the brink of another catastrophic war.
The pastor also prophesied that 2025 would witness a massive and unprecedented earthquake, urging believers to remain vigilant and prayerful.
In his prophetic sermon, titled “The Glory Ahead,” Adeboye reassured his listeners that despite the current turmoil, the future holds brighter prospects.
He reinforced that God’s divine purpose for humanity remains steadfast, explaining that while many may long for heaven, God is not in a rush to take people from earth because there is still much to be done in fulfilling His mission.
