Aiyedatiwa assigns portfolios to new commissioners

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has officially designated ministries to the 16 commissioners sworn in on Monday, urging them to begin their duties without delay and uphold the administration’s developmental agenda.

This development was announced in a statement on Tuesday by Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, in Akure.

The swift assignment of responsibilities came less than a day after the inauguration ceremony held at the International Centre for Culture and Events in the state capital.

According to the statement, the commissioners will oversee the following portfolios:

Idowu Ajanaku – Ministry of Information and OrientationIgbekele Ajibefun – Ministry of Education

Ayorinde Abiola Olawoye – Ministry of Infrastructure, Lands and Housing

Ayodele Akande – Ministry of Water Resources and Public Sanitation

Alabi Johnson – Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources

Amidu Takuro – Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs

Adewale Akinlosotu – Ministry of Regional Integration and Diaspora Relations

Seun Abosede Osamaye – Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development

Tob Loko – Ministry of EnvironmentOlaolu Akindolire – Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning

Sunday Olajide – Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development

Omoyofunmi Segun Henry – Ministry of Youths and Sports Development

Bola Ademuwagun – Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives

Leye Akinola – Ministry of Agriculture and ForestryBanji Awolowo Ajaka – Ministry of Health

Adesoji Afolabi – Ministry of Culture and Tourism

During the swearing-in, Governor Aiyedatiwa challenged the newly appointed commissioners to hit the ground running and reflect the core values of good governance in their work.

He also offered a firm caution to those close to the appointees: “To your family members, friends, and associates, I offer congratulations and a word of caution. While we appreciate their support, they must not put the new appointees under undue pressure by soliciting unnecessary favours.”

The governor emphasized that their obligations must serve all residents of the state, not just the interests of their immediate constituencies.
