Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has officially dissolved his cabinet, signaling a move to bring fresh faces and new expertise into his administration.
The announcement came during a valedictory session at the Exco Chamber on Friday, where Eno praised his outgoing commissioners for their performance but emphasized the need for a new team to continue the state’s progress.
During his address, Governor Eno made it clear that the decision was not driven by any underperformance but rather a desire to introduce new professionals into key government roles.
“If it were based on non-performance, none of the commissioners would be leaving. All of you have performed excellently, and that’s why the Arise Agenda has been a success. But like every season, we must end one and begin another,” he explained.

The governor also announced that a special valedictory dinner would be held later in the evening at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Uyo to honor the outgoing executive members.
Many of the commissioners had been in office for nearly a decade, with some serving under former Governor Udom Emmanuel.
Their retention at the beginning of Governor Eno’s tenure was seen as a way to compensate them for their loyal service, as they were not officially rewarded following the conclusion of the previous administration on May 29, 2023.
As Governor Eno embarks on this new phase of governance, his focus will be on assembling a team of professionals who can help drive his vision for the future of Akwa Ibom State.
